Subj: Anyone consider the animated dvd of All-Star Superman better than the comic?

I think the comic of All-Star Superman is great. One of the best comic stories I have ever read, but does anybody consider the animated adaptation to be better? I do. One of the overarching themes of the story was Superman having to confront his own mortality, but the comics version introduced a time traveling 5-d imp who is a Superman of the future and the idea that Superman is going to become some sort of solar being. Since 5-d imps are for all intents and purposes omnipotent the idea that Superman's condition is incurable lost its meaning. IIRC, didn't Superman also meet his future self as the leader of the Supermen or himself under mummy wrappings? Either way, the whole process of preparing to die feels more like going through the motions for history's sake instead of actually facing his own mortality since he knows he could have survived or will survive.

The animated dvd removed that so Superman is forced to confront his own mortality. Lois thinks he survives at the end, but the ending is ambiguous enough to not confirm one way or the other. I think this made it a stronger ending and stronger tale as a whole.

thoughts?
