This series is little known. I'd not heard of it until around the time MOS was released. A slew of Superman DVDs came out. One set was the Superboy TV series. It ran just prior to Lois an Clark and ceased production to make way for L&C. It ran 4 years and had very good ratings.

The last 2 seasons were especially good. Gerard Christopher, who starred, became a producer as well. A huge Superman fan he was responsible in part for some great eps. The Roads Not Taken episode, conceptually, IMO is one of the best Superman stories out there.

Roads Not Taken was years ahead in exploring the multi-verse. It features three Supermen. One good, one evil and one jaded who has given up being Superman. Now that would have made/make for a great Superman film trilogy.

For fans of the traditional Superman costume, the GC/Superboy costume took the Reeve costume and made it better. Cape, insignia and use of fabrics not available 15 years earlier.

If you get the chance check it out.

I only saw a handful of episodes back when it was on, I've always known of it. There was also a comic based on this TV series, which was good timing I suppose since the original Superboy in the comics had been erased by the Crisis anyway.

It's on my list to get to someday but my list is really long.

Move it up on your list - LOL. The series is a treat and you'll love it. Especially the second two seasons. Better than Lois and Clark which it was axed, in part, to make way for. Like I said, check it out. And tell me if the GC Superman/Superboy suit is not the best classic live action version ever done.

Too, Stacy Haiduk was great as Lana and the Stacy/Gerard chemistry was on fire. Better than any "super" couple aside from Christopher and Margot and, perhaps, Tyler and Elizabeth. With due respect to MOS fans, I did not find Henry and Amy to have all that great chemistry together.

I've seen some episodes. Loved what I saw and would love to see all the seasons. But last I know of, all 4 seasons are still not available on DVD. \:\(

It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?

Actually they are available. At Amazon and Target. They sell individual season DVDs so it gets pricey to purchase all 4 at once. My advice would be start with season 2 or 3. If you like it purchase the rest. Season 1 featured a different lead actor who was not as good as Gerard. Still the first season isn't bad.

Yes, Dean and Terri had great chemistry. Fortunately most Superman/Lois actor pairings did.

Christopher and Margot are the best pair but being challenged by Tyler and Elizabeth, Then Dean and Teri and Gerard and Staci (though Stacy played Lana).

The two pairings that did not have good chemistry were Brandon and Kate and Henry and Amy.

Chemistry is an odd thing. You can have actors who off-screen have strong chemistry but on-screen it does not carry over. The sweet spot is when actor pairings can bring their natural chemistry onto their screen performance. Tyler and Elizabeth do this big time. It's so fun the watch their interviews together and how natural and playful they are with each other and to see them reproduce their great vibe on screen as Clark and Lois.

What current couple has for them in additional to real chemistry is real family dynamic, as this version of Superman is facing more realistic challenges of being a Husband and father now!
