Subj: Finally read Thor #600

I had read spoilers of the issue already, but I still really enjoyed the issue. I was quite surprised to find myself liking the short Stan Lee story; I haven't cared for most of his recent writings but this one was well done, if short (which is out of Stan's control so I don't ding him for that).

I was thinking in particular about the "Avengers Assemble" moment, which drew some criticism around here for having the Dark Avengers show up instead of the real Avengers. From what I read on the board there are posters who felt a great Avengers Assemble moment was ruined by the Dark Avengers showing up and it was a wasted moment. I disagree.

With Thor's banishment from Asgard, I think the Dark Avengers showing up really hammers home two points. The first point is that Thor truly is on his own. The second is to show how "wrong" things are in the Marvel Universe right now during the Dark Reign.

With Thor's banishment from Asgard I do admit I hope he ends up on the Mighty Avengers roster (as I'm sure Hulk won't be on that book very long), which would force him to work with Tony (and as such work through the problems with their current relationship) to set things right in the Marvel Universe, as one hero alone will not be able to stop Norman Osborn and the Dark Avengers.
