Subj: Finally got my copies of Thor 619, 620, and Thunderstrike 3

Finally made it to the city with time to pick up my comics, and I have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed by my Thor-related purchases.

I groaned when the Asgardians resorted to the Blood Colossi against the World Eaters. If Fraction had chosen to bring back his creation a few arcs in, I might have thought it was cool. Doing it in his very first arc strikes me as either being lazy or trying too hard to make a non-epic story feel epic.

On the whole Fraction's writing of Thor really has me questioning if I'm going to get the relaunched Thor...if it was anybody but Coipel doing the pencils on the new book I already would have decided to skip it.

And I hate to say it, but Thunderstrike had me cringing too. It really felt like DeFalco was trying too hard to be "hip and with it", with the references to Twitter and whatnot. If anything that dated the book more than if he hadn't mentioned things like that at all.

It was really a disappointing haul all around. Chaos War #5 and Avengers Prime #5 weren't very good, Secret Avengers #9 & 10 were kind of blah (I'm waiting for somebody besides Steve Rogers to actually do something in the book), but at least Captain America #614 and #615 weren't bad. My LCS put the first issue of the new Hawkeye mini aside for me (which I didn't realize was coming out), and it was great so thank goodness for that.

Also got the hardcover of Thanos Imperative, was very excited for some Beta Ray Bill action with the Annihilators! I always enjoy the cosmic DnA stuff.
