Subj: Does anybody miss the other kingdoms?

In the old Tales of Asgard, Asgard was one among many kingdoms inhabited by Asgardianlike beings. On one hand it did make the Asgardian world much larger. You get the feeling that for all their talk of gods the Asgardians sort of know what it is like to be mortal because they have so many peers. Their overall life was very much like with mortals because of the vastness of the world and the equals. Odin has to be skilled a politics to deal with the other kingdoms.

On the other hand I think it did tend to take away some of the uniqueness of the Asgardians. It raised the old questions of what made them gods and if the other humanlike beings could be considered gods as well or what were they.

thoughts?
