Hawkeye would want to honor Cap's memory and legacy. By nature, he'd also choose the rebellious side rather than the pro-government side. I can also see Hawkeye siding with the non-Avenger New Avengers as a symbolic move for him post-House of M. While Mighty/Initiative Avengers have a lot of long-standing friends and allies (Wonder Man, Iron Man, Rhodey, Pym, Wasp, Tigra, Black Widow), I can see him of all long-term Avengers cutting ties for good and, for reasons of principle, moving on to a team that, in comparison, he barely knows. He's done it before when he went to the T-Bolts (and, for that matter, the Defenders), and it's time for him to do it again.

At the same time, I kinda hope he isn't Ronin...I can't picture him saying "Yo, Cage" or pulling off those ninja moves. I'd much rather see Hawkeye as the new Captain America- that'd be a great Wally West-style character graduation that is 45 redemptive years in the making. I'd love to see Hawkeye join as the new Cap.

Well he seemed to work well under Luke in HOM. But seriously, Hawleye should lead the NEw Avengers. If anyone is a born leader for the Avengers aside from Cap, its Hawkeye. Even more than IM.
