Um, he tried to start a nuclear war, and has killed at least one of Herc's friends. Which "worse Avengers" are you thinking of?

Your kidding right? Wonderman has gone on rampages and has killed, Wolverine has killed his fair share of people, who knows how many people died in Wanda and Pietro's terrorist attacks. Sandman has also been an Avenger in the past.

Sure Ares is a "bad guy" but he is trying to reform. It doesn't stray from Avengers tradition to let villians or members on the team with questionable pasts.
