Get over it, the team was stale before Disassembled and now we're all chatting away with several books each month relevant to the debate. "Classic" is relative. Aside from the disassembled ashes team that brought in heroes who rose to the occassion of the Vault outtage, most of those you list are either Tony's draftees or secret Avengers in the NA book and unofficial anyway. The Initiative is a chance to bring back many others. Avengers was nearly a carcass with flies and maggots, BENDIS! just electrocuted the corpse and franken$teined it into a wild albeit slow ride.

I'm loving the story and art much much more than the days of Rage, Dman, Druid, Sandman, etc

Slow? Okay, I'll definitely give you that one.

Wild? Um, not so much.

Hell, Rob Liefeld, Chuck Austen, or Micah Ian Wright could have written an Avengers title starring "BOTH SPIDER-MAN AND WOLVERINE!!! AND CAPTAIN AMERICA AND IRON MAN!!! AND THE NEW 'HE'S TOTALLY STREET' LUKE CAGE!!! PLUS A MYSTERIOUS BADASS SAMURAI CHARACTER THAT'S ACTUALLY A NEW IDENTITY FOR AN ESTABLISHED HERO!!!" and it would have sold well.

Look, you're gonna nab the Avengers completists, the Spidey completists, the X-completists, and the folks who'd like to read about all of these characters, but don't want to spend the cash to follow each of them individually (the same reason the old/new JLA does well).

You can say BENDIS! "electrocuted" or revitalized the Avengers concept. But in my book, he cheated and/or took the easy way out to achieve success - destroying any semblance of a "classic" Avengers team.

> I'm loving the story and art much much more than the days of Rage, Dman, Druid, Sandman, etc

Yeah, well, not even the most hardcore Avengers fans are gonna seriously defend the book from 1988-1991.

But, ya know, that was only a 4-year stretch that took place more than 15 years ago.

(And I've already gone over D-Man. So thanks for your absolute dismissal...)

Look, I'm glad you're enjoying the new books. (Again, different strokes for different folks.) But don't try to sell me on the fact that Berries & Cream Dr. Pepper is SOOO superior to regular, "classic" Dr. Pepper.

'Cause that's just asinine.

Also, don't throw sales figures in this old-timer's face either. (Actually, I'm only 34.) Just so you're aware, the 80s/90s Avengers sold 10 times as well as Bendis' group.
