> I hate how Pym's been portrayed through his history. I liked him best in WCA. He was a hero then. Readers didn't get the costant reminder of his past problems. He not only an extaordinary man of science on par with Reed Richards but a level-headed leader. By now, this should be a character that is a clear cut first choice to lead the Avengers (when Cap's not around). Unfortunately, writers have chosen to make him a women beater. Not the way i would have went.
> I found it interesting that Cap seeked out Pym 1st when he decided to resist the SHRA. I wonder if Bendis put any thought in this on a characterization point of view or just wanted the visual of Cap's shield smashing a giant nose? Intended or not, it showed how much Cap thought of Hank as a person. How much better would it have been if the spy in the pro-shra side actually was Pym and not some shape shifter? Now that would have brought back respect to this long dumped-on character. Maybe if Bendis liked the character that would have been a possibility. Too bad, it could have been an avenue for interesting stories and the New Avengers could use a scientist. Maybe Wolvy and DD could have shrunken to get aboard the helicarrier rather than rely on a hokie Dr. Strange spell.
> > It has been said that you don't like the character of Hank Pym no matter what incarnation he is in. Fine, but a really great writer can write anything or anyone, so I challenge you to write Hank, whether as YellowJacket, Giant-Man, or even Antman, and make him interesting, exciting, and as respected as he was in the early days of the Avengers, when everyone, even Cap would turn to him for advice and suggestions.
