Yeah, but there's something off with those thought bubbles... It's hard to explain, but I feel there's too many of them, the characters' thoughts are so banal... I don't know how to put it, but those thought bubbles feel really forced and artificial to me. They actually read like parodies of thought bubbles, as if Bendis is trying to convince everybody that thought bublles are a stupid narrative tool. As if he was trying to say: "Hey, old-school fans! You wanted thought bubbles in my comics? Well, here's some really irritating thought bubbles for you!".

> Yup. I kind of think this was part of Carol's point though--showing Ares really isn't capable of doing better.

Hm. You're right. I re-read the preview and it looks that Carol might not be expecting Ares to be able to plan etc., but wants to show hum that he could try learning it. If so, then OK, it makes sense.

I hate to admit it, but you are right. Here's my logic. I've read Bendis's Daredevil, and it seems like other places where he does the internal monologues. He can do it so it works well. Thought baloons are the same things. Just a different way. If he could do it in that format, it should feel less forced here.
