They may have already done this for all I know, I'm just suggesting with the impending invasion would it call for the official formation on an Elite Avengers space/Earth atmosphere based team?

I could see Mar-Vell leading this.

Anybody like this idea?

I recently heard something about guardians of the glaxy, but I thought that was in the future?

well, there was the Avengers Infinity team (thor, starfox, tigra, quasar, jack of hearts and moondragon), which had a mini series, battled the infinites \(\?\) , then helped in the "maximum security" x-over, when earth became a prison planet for aliens.

the event ended with quasar getting the ego-spore, thus banning him from earth. he then built a space monitoring station in the asteroid for the avengers to watch over space threats. living lightning and photon accompanies quasar.

but i believe it was destroyed after the kang war.

another team took off for the celestial quest (thor, silverclaw, mantis, swordsman, that guy from squadron supreme)

well, regarding the space team. that would be a good idea, amid the ruckus from the annihilation. but i rather feel the marvel univ is more clutttered than before. with more initiative teams springing up...

kurt busiek's avengers circa hundred hulks-kang war are better than the initiative. it has a large cast which maximizes all characters who were avengers.

but if there would be a new space team, i'd pick cyclops, a starjammer/shi'ar imperial guard member, young avenger hulkling, moondragon, new quasar, silverclaw, mantis, photon and beta ray bill.
