I accuse Henry Peter Gyrich of being a Skrull imposter. He may have been the first victim of the current Skrull invasion.

The method used was the Skrull space ship that the Illuminati used to escape, and whose existence Namor questioned in the Beyonder issue, Reed Richards and Tony Stark tacitly admitting they kept the ship to try and exploit its technology. A Skrull agent could have hidden aboard as ... anything.

What is being shown in Avengers: Initiative (not that its new or anything), is that Gyrich is personally involved in assessing alien technology. And in MA#8 it is shown that Tony Stark has the access codes to the Baxter Building.

My timeline is somewhere around the time of Authoritative Action, when Reed Richards was in hot water with the United States government over his actions in the Doomless Latveria, Gyrich tried to get his hands on some Skrull technology that had been in Reed Richards possession, with disastrous consequences as that technology turned out to be a Skrull spy who replaced him. I place the switch at this time because it appears to be when people started to act suspiciously, such as whatever drove Nick Fury to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. I would be pleased if the "secretary" who was told to wait outside in the President's first meeting with Agent Hill turned out to be Gyrich.

The Gyrich Skrull isn't some superpowered omega class being--I believe him to simply have what Skrull agents had been shown in the past, some short of hypnosis. But once Gyrich was replaced, then that opened up the Skrulls to having access to other technology that had been confiscated on Earth, enabling them to bring more of them over.

I agree that Gyrich (along with Slapstick) is a prime candidate for a Skrullification... but I disagree that he wouldn't be a powerful one... he'd have to be because he's interacting with a larger variety of hero than any other (alleged) Skrull, so he'd have to pass through all kinds of scrutiny that only omega-class Skrulls could.
