Wow,you guys were reading a totally different book than I was.

Go back and look again...

Red nine is shown completely intact, face down on the bottom left of the fifth panel of the first page after the recap page, right where the story picks up later. So is Diamondback, also face down, Proton is face up next to her, Crusader is grasping his handless arm, Melee is floored, hunched over behind some flaming wreckage, she's on her side with her back turned to the 'camera,' and the bottom half of a destroyed recruit is no doubt Dragon Lord, he is wearing Dragon Lord's clothes, and the beginning of issue 8 had Hank walking through his blood by his arm. While Geiger isn't depicted, it is in the same manner as Ant-Man, with no indication she was destroyed, she could easily have been knocked out. The only confirmed death of a new recruit is Dragon Lord. The others may well be incapacitated and not dead.

Good analysis.

Another thing I'd note is that I seriously doubt Yellowjacket is dead. Last issue, Stature asks him (pleads, really) about whether it's possible Scott Lang survived a massive explosion by shrinking down to micro-size. Pym tels her it's not, although this is how he survived his death in... what? Issue 2? 3? If the story is going where I suspect, we may learn that the Scott Lang Ant-Man survived "Avengers Disassembled."

The other possibility - and I actually kind of like this one - is that it wasn't Henry Pym who was killed in this issue, but a Skrull duplicate.

We'll have to wait an issue or two to find out how many characters died in this issue. I'm hoping that most of them made it; megadeath in comics isn't something I enjoy.

'course, I don't give good odds to Hardball and Kimodo...
