> I dont get why Ares is an Avenger? He is a thug, a Godly Punisher if you will.
No more so than Wolverine is, just on a MUCH grander scale. He's the troublemaker on the current roster, something every team worth reading has to have. What I'm enjoying about Ares is that he is TRYING to be a better man... it's just that he has such a miserably large trek ahead of him to be anything other than the blood-soaked monster he's been for thousands of years.
> I remember reading awhile back when they brought him into the Avengers that he has a son he is protecting. I think that was covered in his mini-series. They never revealed who the mother of the kid was did they?
Nope... only that Ares has no intention of ever allowing her a role in his son's life. He's trying to raise a son among mortals because he's disgusted with being Zeus's errand-boy for brutal combat.
> I thought it was even implied that it could be one of the woman in the Avengers.
Not in the mini, at least. Ares would have nothing to do with whoever it is regularly, simply because he wants no female influence in his son's life. (Considering Ares' mother? I really don't blame him much. Poor screwed-up Greek god...)
> I at the least dont like the current way he is being utilized. This is definetly not like the earlier New Avengers led by Cap!
Ares is easily the most fun member of the current line-up for me. I'm enjoying Mighty lots more than the New Avengers at either of its eras, so to each his own, I guess.
