Maybe it was just me but the Avengers seemed rather indifferent to the deaths of bystanders in the movie. They seemed to often knock them into buildings or grand central station.

To me plenty of people died because of whichever direction the Avengers pushed the Shitauri. I'd be pretty pissed if you got my family killed trying to save someone else who was in their way...but I'm known to be petty.
