      2. This movie picks up soon after Cap's defrosting and there's not one bit of 'man out of time' syndrome. I think Joss Whedon dropped the ball with Cap because after being revived, the out-of-time aspect of his character is what makes him interesting at this point. There was no indication of any inner struggle except for a seconds long montage in the beginning. For a great story about Cap's personal struggle with lost time, I suggest reading Mark Waid's Captain America: Man Out Of Time.

There was a bit, (it was just a bit, but enough for an Avengers movie). Like the only reference he got for a while was "flying monkeys" In any case, that's a subject better explored in a Cap solo movie.

There was also the bit about paying Fury $10 if he saw something unexpected... but yes, there wasn't a lot about the man out of time idea. I'm thinking this will be in CA 2.

      3. The movie lacked tension because there was no visual indication of what Loki was planning other that claiming to have an army. We have no clue what's coming until the portal pens and the alien race comes through for the climax. It was hard to care about what might happen to the world and our heroes when we're so in the dark about what's coming.

There was the scene where Loki was being threatened and one of the big monsters is shown slithering around in the background... I thought that built some tension.
