    Thinking about it, "glib" really isn't the right word.

    There's dark humour all throughout that. How can that escape you?

    So No, creating a new world isn't Thanos "up to his old tricks".

You missed the times where he restarted the universe. You have very selective memmory, it seems. To be honest, Annihilation was more out of character, because Thanos had gotten past that.

I said "as a villain". There was a long period where he was an Anti-Hero and during that period he did many heroic things such as saving the universe twice and sacrificing himself to restart it (though in fairness he did that after killing off the previous universe).

But after that he returned as a villain and in this context he's clearly acting as a villain. He's not making amends (as he did in Marvel:The End) he's telling the Avengers he's going to kill them and everyone else on earth.
