Your points are very logical Iron Man 007...specially with the futur Marvel movies, Mar-vell is too useful for Marvel: for to introduce Carol Danvers, but also for Thanos and also the Kree/Skrull war....

But I think with this plant story, his return will be just for to link the comicbook with the Movies, and I think it's the biggest problem...I really see Marvel try to do "the Death of Captain Marvel the movie", because the story is very special and I think Marvel would try to take the opportunity to make a real superhero dramatic movie...and it will really a horrible thing to do for the Mar-vell fans...

I hope the plant will be the Cocatis, and they will help Mar-vell to comeback for good...I can easily see them to do that for to comeback to Hala and help the Kree (despite their conflict in the past) about their recent problems (or maybe find a solution about the genetic kree problem)...Now, if it would be Mar-vell with his spirit or not...I guess everything is possible, specially in the short time after his phoenix ressurection...but I will be very happy if he is "just" present physically with the help of the Cocatis.

Well the Cotati do have healing and telepathic abilities as I recall, and they did reanimate the Swordsman but his spirit had departed and I don't know if they can reach into the hereafter like the Phoenix and yank his spirit back.

BUT:......if there was a tiny residue of life still in him when the plants enveloped him then his spirit hasn't left yet and he can be revived without being a Mar-Vell Zombie.

The major problem to mar-vell returning however is that he still DOESN'T WANT TO RETURN. In this story he stated a few times before his sacrifice that he didn't miss life. In Cosmic Powers Unlimited 1 when Thanos brought him back via the reality gem, Mar-Vell made it clear he was resolved to being dead and that he doesn't want a second chance at life. Thanos sent him back.

Now I'm not saying that a revived Mar-Vell is going to commit suicide right away, but the first chance he gets to make a heroic self sacrifice again he will do so.
