Re: HULK #55 [nb. It SHOULD be titled RED HULK #55 by now!]
While it's GREAT when a writer incorporates underused and underappreciated superheroes into a story it seems inappropriate to casually assemble -for the first time- a new group of AVENGERS AFFLIATES with not much more than a passing reference and cameo. Especially after the recent ROLL CALL book, http://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?rpy=avengers-2012070519373771, seemed to be attempt to better quantify the post-SIEGE franchise of AVENGERS with some appreciated precident. (Worse if this never gets noted in the mainAvengers title.) Has the 'official' roll call changed already?
Maaaybe, Cap was in a rush and loosely referred to the group assembled as 'affiliates'. Good or him and long overdue to make this kind of call given the cliche cliques he usually summons when the Earth is in trouble. On the plus side, it was a nice detail to note that the REAL Avengers were tied up with a sitch as excuse for not showing up - though that must have been some kind of crazy sitch to delay dealing with the Pantheon-level gods attacking. Does he not remember Fear Itself?
Aaanyways, as displeasing as the group name sounded. More curious is the individual names that Cap had on speed dial! Can anyone name them all? There appeared to be TEN ...plus... *cringes* plus one if you identify that a Superchihuahua! Only WANT to acknowledge Silver Claw and Living Lightning as Cap's reps and maybe they called in the other 8, which for some reason include Toro and Velocidad, to warrant the AFFILIATE title by association? Anyone?
