Reply Subj: I'm... honestly very, very surprised you liked this issue...?

Quote:Most people online seems to think AAS is far too simplistically written, to by the numbers.
Quote:That it almost feels like an all-agees book, apparently.
I think I can kind of see what they mean there... It assumes you know NOTHING about the MU, so it kind of takes its time to explain a whole bunch of stuff that most of us already know.
Surprised myself. Especially after not caring much for the previous 5 issue set up. You're right there is a bit of an all-ages feel to it which could go either way. Avenging Spidey is like that too and is currently a fun read. My problem so fare is that up to now they really have explained almost nothing of merit that is most to long time readers.
Quote:It can kind of get a bit tedious, and affects how brilliant the characters seem.
This issue had Tony and to a lesser degree Thor and Hulk show a bit of brilliance. Which was refreshing.
Quote:It seems like the old-schoolers, which I assume you are one of, are kind of half-on-half about it... some like the some-times old-school flair, some bloody hate it since it's still Bendis to a degree.
Quote:Most of the newer fans just hate it.
There have been a lot of disagreeable directions for Avengers since Disassembled IMO. However there have been a few fun issues here and there. Like #6 - even though the series has been quite weak.
Quote:Me? I think it's ok.
Kind of one of Bendis weaker books, but still enjoyable I must say. But nothing special, very by-the-numbers. You can tell Bendis is just about done with the Avengers.
Quote:The same feeling I'm getting from Brubakers Cap about now, as well...
Quote:Here's to Marvel NOW!
Reborn/Returned/Redone Red Skull seems like cliche premiere villian but: Must. Withhold. Judgement...
