Well she gave him a VERY painful squeeze if I remember correctly. I think the comics code was all but dead by that time.Supposedly Byrne left it up to the readers imagination what was going on but it was pretty clear what was happening.I was suprised ionic-powered W.M. screamed but apparently that didnt help in that instance.

....not sure how much physical pain she could cause, given how he's made of super-strong and durable ionic biomass. I interpreted it more as her doing something pleasurable to him, which under the circumstances was also frustrating, invasive, and heart-breaking; she made it clear that he was just her boy-toy, to be discarded when she got bored, knowing full well his feelings for her. Even if his flesh is near-invulnerable, Simon still has the sense of touch, and could definitely feel what she was doing, even if it didn't actually cause trauma.
...and this is the last time I want to think about Wonder Man's ionic junk.
