Worth noting that Tony Stark's first public supervillain had a shrink ray in his Tales of Suspense run. He lasted less than a panel, so we can't really assume much about it, but he existed.

Personally, I have to love Ellis' take on Pym as a scientist in Nextwave. \:\) (Pym's VERY public problems with his process, combined with his fame in doing so, has killed a multitude of research projects that are MORE promising in reliable size-changing than Pym Particles ever were.)

Which makes Pym that rare super-scientist character who has a reason that his inventions haven't changed the world completely. What's Reed Richards's excuse? Is he really just Randall Dowling in disguise?

Hilariously, of course, Giant-Sam wound up just as nutty as Pym for his troubles, so…maybe size-changing really *is* bad for your sanity?
