Tortoises are cool. At least from afar. I don't see them being as stimulating as a dog, cat, or even a squirrel. There's a guy around the corner from me who raises sulcatas. He gathers a crowd when he walks them daily (not in winter). What's amazing is that his turtles even follow commands. When they start getting to close to the curb, he tells them to stop and taps his foot in a certain direction, and they turn. Smarter than you'd think. I have an uncle, who was heavily into snakes, and for a while he had a collection of alligator snappers. I think I was more scared of those guys than I ever was his Indian cobra, even though that's just wrong. This same uncle, when I was a baby, had a gator in his bathtub. And for a while, had this guy. So cute, except for when he'd nibble your feet. Growing up, my great-grandma had this huge turtle in her back yard. Sucker had to have been about 3-4 feet long. Not telling how old he was, but one spring he just didn't emerge from his hold in the ground. ![]() But um... I'm just gonna say I live in turtle soup country. City of Heroes is BACK! | |||||||
