Well thats clearly not true. In no society in the history of man are the achievements of people who do good deeds primarily out of ego, arrogance, for personal acclaim or for payment for example considered the equal of those who do them simply out of a sense of benevolance. Hercules is clearly a *very* faulted hero - and it is these faults that make most of our heroes so compelling - and whether you consult the legends or the comic books that is something that has been shown to be the case on many occasions. Saying that Hercules is 'above' these issues also only serves to give us a character who is *less* heroic rather than more. His adherence to the laws of man and following of their customs despite his incredible power and legend is a sign of humility, where as the alternative is a sign of ignorance and arrogance. | |||||||
