Which villains/ group do members believe Peter David intended as behind what took place in Asgard/Olympus that led to the "Great Cataclysm" referenced in his Last Avengers Story, and why? Did PAD further intend Wild Man to have died in this battle too?

Also, what happened to the Grim Reaper at the end of the book? The nature of Oddball's relationship to Grim Reaper was played up, but never explained.

PAD also made mention back then that Oddball was a character we had already previously encountered in another guise, so any ideas?

PAD also introduced a number of legacy characters. While Hotshot's father was Dane Whitman, thoughts on his mother? And Bombshell's mother (what with Hercules being her father)? And any theories re: parents of Super-Ego, Gestalt, High Tide and the shadow at the table in the shown card game (Sequoia obviously intended as Mantis's son)?

Also what plan did PAD have for Captain America after he was released from the regenerative chamber?

Its funny youre raising this now because I only just re read this story recently and felt inclined to review it on amazon even though it has been out of print for years.

It was a terrific story that hinted at so much, and its a real shame that out of all the stories that have come since no one ever thought of developing on the ideas PAD came up with.

As for the Great Cataclysm, this was a godly problem so surely could only have involved a godly threat like Loki, Pluto, Ares, Hela, the Midgard Serpent, Surtur etc. The fact that both Thor and Herc were involved would suggest that it could have been multiple threats from both the Norse and Greek Pantheons.

I was more interested in learning about the 'Great Purge' though - the event that caused most of Earths heroes to simply quit the hero game. The way that SHIELD has been going for a number of years and with events like standoff, we cant be far away from them just putting all captured villains to death without trial.

The Avengers that took over in the absence of the real Avengers and were wiped out at the beginning were a bunch of posers, pretenders and celebs, so it is unlikely that any of them are legacy characters.
