Its funny youre raising this now because I only just re read this story recently and felt inclined to review it on amazon even though it has been out of print for years. It was a terrific story that hinted at so much, and its a real shame that out of all the stories that have come since no one ever thought of developing on the ideas PAD came up with. As for the Great Cataclysm, this was a godly problem so surely could only have involved a godly threat like Loki, Pluto, Ares, Hela, the Midgard Serpent, Surtur etc. The fact that both Thor and Herc were involved would suggest that it could have been multiple threats from both the Norse and Greek Pantheons. I was more interested in learning about the 'Great Purge' though - the event that caused most of Earths heroes to simply quit the hero game. The way that SHIELD has been going for a number of years and with events like standoff, we cant be far away from them just putting all captured villains to death without trial. The Avengers that took over in the absence of the real Avengers and were wiped out at the beginning were a bunch of posers, pretenders and celebs, so it is unlikely that any of them are legacy characters. | |||||||
