Avengers 5 was one of the worst isues I've read in years so I'm dropping the title for now.

Thank you. I dropped it too. Now we just need about 40,000 more people to drop it.

Got me thinking about the things that really frustrate me about the Avengers though.

A massive collection of amazing members with long historys and interesting back storys and yet Marvel continue to get it wrong.

It shouldn't be that hard. The recent weekly series was almost OK.

    Just for fun....

Imagine that Cap, Iron Man and Thor go on a secret mission which involves a trip into the furthest depths of space.

Sounds like something that may happen in the next Avengers film.

A battle with a small group of lost skrulls develops and when they break intop the Skrull spaceship they are horrified to fine a holding chamber with 10 life pods in it. In a hark back to Secret Invasion the pods contain 10 Avengers.

I wasn't a fan of Secret Invasion but OK.

You get to decide who and when they were taken - This giving an opportunity to resolve any silly character developments.

I'd want Thor to be in one of those pods. Which means the Thor we've been reading about lately has been a Skrull. Which would explain - hey, I like this - why Mjolnir rejected our current Thor as unworthy! Sweet!

Here's my pick of 10 - Tigra, Sersi, Scarlet Witch, Swordsman II, Magdalane, Spiderwoman (Julia), She Hulk, Marrina, Jack Of Hearts, Thunderstrike.

Why Sersi? I don't know who Magdalene is - but Wikipedia apparently does:

Magdalene is a member of the Avengers who first appeared in Avengers #343 (January 1992), and was created by Bob Harras, Steve Epting, and Tom Palmer. Magdalene was a member of the Avengers in an alternate timeline, a world which was destroyed by an alternate version of Sersi. As a result, she joined the Gatherers, a group formed by Proctor, an alternate version of Dane Whitman, known in the Mainstream Marvel Universe as the Black Knight. The purpose of the Gatherers was to destroy every universe's version of Sersi, so that she could no longer be a threat.[volume & issue needed] Magdelene has superhuman strength and stamina, and is armed with a power-lance which fires energy bolts and can open space warps.

OK - so I can see why Sersi and Magdalene might be mentioned in the same breath.

I would love to see Thunderstrike return. I didn't appreciate him when he was around, but that was because he was promoted as a replacement for Thor. Give me both characters operating independently of one another and I'll be on board.

I actually think a Thunderstrike movie could happen in the next five years. Chris Helmsley won't be playing Thor forever. Marvel can either bring in a new actor or else raise up a different character to fill the void. In my opinion the two best choices for the latter option are Hercules and Thunderstrike.

So I would put Thor and Thunderstrike in two of the pods.

I'll be weird and put Moonraker and Century in two of the pods.

Oh - and Hank Pym definitely. Taken when he was still Giant-Man! The version of him that couldn't get smaller than ten feet was a Skrull! That same Skrull created Ultron and slapped Jan! Sweet. Of course that means this same Skrull saved the Vision in the Kree/Skrull War but OK, I'll live with that if I can have all the rest expunged from Hank's record.
