Dang, but I'm behind in new comics!

Who did Batman pull from the wreckage of the bomb?

Who did Batman bury back when Jason "died"?

Bruce buried the dead body of Jason Todd, who had been beaten to within an inch of death and then blown up (exacerbated because he bravely , if unsuccessfully, tried to shield his mother from the blast)

What happened was that according to the nature of the universe, this was apparently never MEANT to happen. Jason was intended to survive and his death was a "blip" in spacetime caused by the original Crisis on Infnite Earths and the "darkening" of the DCU, one of the first of many such as the Death of Superman, Batman's back being broken, the death of Blue Beetle etc...

A survivor of the original Crisis, Superboy Prime, in the crystalline dimensional interface that he, the Earth-2 Superman and Lois and Alex Luthor of Earth 3 were stuck in, saw the death and in frustration at the nightmarish events taking place in the DCU started punching the walls of the dimension. Because of where he was, he was in essence, punching the walls of reality itself, and the vibrations rattled backwards and forwards in time, changing things even more.

In Jason's case, Superboy Prime's punch caused the Jason from the "proper" timeline (where he hadn't died) to appear in the location of the Jason from the previous Timeline (who had). In other words, inside his own coffin.

It should be noted that no one was aware of this retcon at first except for Jason, and he was slightly insane at the time.

This particularly absurd method of sorting "story problems" has gained it the rather sarcastic name "Retcon punch", since, by simply punching a wall, Superboy Prime was able to cause history to rewrite itself.
