I knew that the end with the clouds and "Did you see that?" and the bat shadow across the building were references to the original episode "On Leather Wings". I just watched that episode just now and picked up on a key detail.

In "On Leather Wings", the clouds are seen FIRST before the camera zooms IN to the show. In "Epilog" the camera zooms OUT and the clouds are seen LAST, perhaps the original painted cell from "On Leather Wings".

I was pretty floored when I realized this, that the DC Animated Series has "bookend episodes".

Anyone else pick up on this?

Hate to break it to you, but it has been commented on many times, not least by the creators who have flat out said it was a direct homage. It is a lovely moment though! \:\)
