There has not been a storyline with batman being replaced or kidnapped, there aren't even any rumors or theories regarding it. It's a pretty random thing to say. The closest thing I can think of is 4 years ago when E2 Superman asked Batman to join him in returning Earth 2, which Batman refused.

Detective Comics has primarily been in Gotham with a solo Batman, occasional teaming with Robin. Batman by Grant Morrison is simply awesome and only some stories have been set in 'far out' situations. There's also Miller's Batman and Robin but that is taking forever to come out.

> Good thing this board is sponsored by mag-lite, I been in the dark too long. Please help enlighten me. A co-worker tried to get me to read a recent issue of Justice League and I commented that I don't like Batman as part of a unit, I much rather prefer him solo and in Gotham. I've never been a fan of the "outer-space" version of Batman. So this friend tells me that the whole story arc taking place in Batman and Batman Detective (where he has a son, adopts Robin as his son, etc.) are all going to play out to be a fake Batman, supposedly from another world that was replaced on some other world and sent back. What tha?!?!? I never much cared for all these "Earth 1, Earth 2" scenarios, and I'm wondering if there is a certain comic of Batman that I can read that primarily leaves him in Gotham in real-world situations!?! PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

That was in IC #3 or 4, which came out less than 2 years ago.
