This is interesting.

This quote appears to me to mean that Batman will be afraid as well he should be of the villains in The Dark Knight. Further, that Batman will be envious of the wicked, in particular of how they are able to so easily be above the law and do horrible things. Thus, Batman might be tempted to break the law and do horrible things to the criminals, fight fire with fire as it where.

However in the end Batman will stray from the darkness that may consume him because he will come to realize that following path will only escalate matters and make him into an evil man. The putting out of the candle of the wicked pretty obviously means the stopping of the schemes of the villains.
