Yeah. I mean what is he actually going to do? The knowledge he has of Batman isn't very relevant to the modern portrayal. Even if they want to "change" Batman, they aren't going to go back to the some of the silly stuff from the 40a and 50s.

Its a pure respect thing I guess. P.R. too.

I really don't want to be a negetive nilly here because, on one hand, I agree that it's a respect thing, but seeing as how I also agree with Spiffy's assessment...it's possible they wanted to show some respect and give him an "emeritus" creative consultant position so that they don't have a rehash in the courts over Joker & Robin as they do now with the Siegels and the concept of Superboy. Just a thought.
