Batman actually explains that that is why he wears the yellow in DKR, if you didn't get that. Although he does later switch to the black in the same book, which I suppose doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yeah, I know about the explanation. He uses the yellow symbol so that criminals will target the most protected part of his body which is his chest where his symbol is and not anywhere else. It makes some sense, except if Batman got hit in that same spot lots of times, he would loose the protection there fast.
