I'm not sure it's possible to write a review free of opinion, bias, and critique. That's sort of the point of a review, isn't it -- to take a position regarding the quality of the thing reviewed?
This guy didn't like it; the New Yorker's film critic similarly missed the point of Batman Begins, decrying the loss of Burton's Gothic grotesque sets in favor of a city that looked as if people might actually live in it. As far as I can tell, NY Magazine and the New Yorker like to be deliberately contrarian in their film reviews, especially where summer blockbuster films are concerned. In any event, almost all the other advance critical buzz around the Dark Knight is simply glowing.
I try to look at everything from an objective point of view.
I am planning even to read Morrison's Batman run to get a better understanding of what some people think is so great about it.
