I know issues 683 was more of the same, but I really did enjoy it.
It moved forward with the "World without a Batman" vision and flashbacked to more recent events in Bat-History (Bane, Azrael, Jason Todd, No Man's Land), and it showed us that Batman RIP directly led into Final Crisis #1 ("I just got a call from the Justice League, I'll fix everything when I come back"). It also filled in what happened unseen in Final Crisis #5 (they bragged about building a clone army using Batman at the beginning of the issue, then they're killed when they tell Darkseid all the clones killed themselves near the end). And then there is of course the implication that nobody deals with trauma and emotional hardship as well as Batman does ("what kind of man can turn even his life memories into a weapon?"). So I liked all of it, and the fact that most of these 2 issues were a trip down memory lane highlighting major events in Batman history feels like a nice epilogue on Batman's career.
And of course, there is the revelation that Batman still has a "New God" killing bullet in his utility belt, which they left in the lab as they were fleeing...
