My reading of it was that Flamingo was created as the sort of villain Jason thinks he should be fighting: Flamngo's not just tough and stoic, he literally doesn't speak a word; and at the same time, Flamingo's origin is that he's a crime victim, jus like Bruce, Dick, and Jason. In Morrison's story, the Red Hood is the grim 'n' gritty Batman turned up to 11, and so he gets a grim 'n' gritty villain turned up to 12, all the way to the point of deliberate ridiculousness. - Omar Karindu "For your information, I don't have an ego.
