I read Catwoman #3 today and to be honest I was pretty much expecting much of the same that I'd seen and read from the first two issues.
Boy was I wrong. It felt to me that the first two issues were simply a set-up to the explosion story in #3.
Finally we're back to what makes Catwoman interesting.
Brutal crime stories with high-stakes adventure.

I highly recommend this issue to any longtime Catwoman fan.

Catwoman #3

Was gonna start passing on a lot of #3's and was deciding on this title. Your post swayed me - thank goodness 'cuz it was a good and interesting read. Brutal and high-stakes turning point for Selina for sure. Catwoman has been reimagined so often that this incarnation seems less drastic/distracting than the other DC mainstays. She seems true enough to her core character. Not knowing Batman's ID is more a problem with the his canon than hers.

This was a visceral and fastpaced installment enhanced once again by decent narrative. The art was just as good the ONLY serious nitpick is the POOR choreography of her movements getting out of the chair and then equally jarring how she got into the club or how she got Bone to the roof. The gist did just not suffice when the good art could have easily made the segues enjoyably more fluid. On the plust side - every page had a story significant scene.

Speaking of Bone - he is a visually interesting candidate for 'Batman's Rogue Gallery'. His shmuck origins really suit his threat level for the street-level anti-heroine to repeatedly come up against. You could feel the super significant role Batman played in keeping him alive and obviously saving her - though clearly moreso with his words there.

Too bad about her fencing friend. Not only the traumic fate but also the fact that Catwoman loses the only supporting character she has. She is really going to need some -ASAP- to keep her title alive.

Perfect cover and perfectly fine cliffhanger ending for the ongoing series. Most likely won't be pasing on #4 after this ish!

I miss Dan.
