I read early on that they were planning to throw us a lot of curves. "Is this one the Joker? He must be." "Oh wait! That other one can't be because THIS ONE obviously will become the Joker." "Oh no! Another one! Which one of them will it be?"
I think that's what we're seeing now, with the Red Hood showing up next week. I mean, does Jerome escape custody and quickly form a gang and create a reputation in a matter of days?
Besides, Jerome is known to Gotham PD now. The Joker is supposed to be a total mystery, with nobody knowing who he was.
I say Jerome is a red herring. He has some of the traits (a lot of them actually), so that means it CAN'T be him.
That's the scarey thought. I mean, someone who plainly reminds us of the Joker is going to be OUTDONE by the real thing, certainly, and as bad as this kid has already shown himself to be, I don't like to think how much worse the real thing will be when he arises.
I really hope we get to see something that'll hint at the fall into the vat version of the Joker's origin, tho'. Ledger's version might have been attention-getting, but he just didn't have the origin, and that's a must.
I don't know how they'll do it, since there are a lot of years to come before it should happen, but some little tidbit to let us know that's how it'll take place... That's what I'm hoping for.
Perhaps a robbery at Axis chemicals by the Red Hood gang?
Also I agree, this Jerome character won't be the Joker. Unless he can hack in and erase his criminal records and fingerprints that are on file, which isn't likely.
