Hudlin's writing of Black Panther is so bad, it was a huge relief when Dwayne McDuffie started writing Black Panther as part of the Fantastic Four. McDuffie's take on Black Panther is pretty good because it is a homage to Priest's Black Panther. It looks to me like Priest's Black Panther is the definitive Black Panther and to not have him write Black Panther is like Marvel Comics renaming themselves Tropic Comics. It just does not make any sense.
What do you guys think? Is it high time the fans of Priest's Black Panther got together and petitioned Marvel to get Priest back on writing Black Panther? Should we start a movement over at Marvel comics message board complaining about Hudlin's Black Panther? Do we need to start posting page scans of Priest's Black Panther comics here and at the Marvel board until they get the message?
Priest has been saying he wants to be recognized simply as a writer, not a black writer. Him coming back to the series would do nothing to help that. If Priest finds better work outside the comic field, I say God speed to him. He's earned it, and paid his due.
Honestly, I'd rather his stories were respected in spirit. Dwayne's done that, Hudlin clearly has not.
