Thought it was fair to point out that:

1) Priest DID NOT WANT to do Panther originally (the intro to "The Client" TPB said he had originally wanted to do Daredevil)

2) We don't know if Priest WOULD WANT to do Panther again, and

3) With his current blog postings, we don't know if Priest would want to do comics today without doing the things he does that we love but don't sell.

I believe we have, with Priests 47 BP issues (or 60 issues, depending how you count, substracting the two fill-in issues either way), one of the BEST RUNS of ANY comic during the turn of the century (at least \:\) ). And as Thomas Wolfe says, blah, blah......After all, Byrne has talked about how he couldn't ever return to the FF, and Waid/Garney did not live up to their own standards during their second Captain America run.

So, perhaps, it might be better, after at least TWO YEARS of this strain of dialogue on this board ("Hate Reggie Panther---We want Priest back on Panther," "Bring Priest back," etc.), to talk about OTHER writers we might want to see write T'Challa's post-Hudlin adventures---writers who are good AND would sell.

Hey! Here's an idea! Maybe we should buy as many McDuffie FFs as possible, and lobby (with our DOLLARS) for HIM to be the post-Hudlin BP writer!

Just sayin'.......

This has always been my problem with Priest. He didn't want to do the character and he doesn't care to do Black characters period. For him doing Black characters was being pigeonholed as a "black writer." I cut him slack because quite simply it doesn't seem that writing Black characters was paying the bills so maybe that had something to do with it.

I'm glad he finally posted that in his blog because it was getting very annoying seeing people on this board saying Marvel should hire Priest to write BP again. To me that was always like saying Marvel should hire Jack Kirby again. The man is essentially dead to comics and particularly to writing any Black character. He was offered a Falcon solo ongoing and he turned it down (**cry**) because he didn't want to write a Black character. Come on did anyone think he would really want to comeback and write Black PAnther?
