... Aleksander Lukin.

Well, maybe not, but it would be pretty funny if Cap ended up sharing Lukin's body too. Say if Arnim Zola was trying to get the Red Skull's mind transfer technology up and running again, and that technology was Cosmic Cube based and still locked onto Cap's genetic structure from the Skull's clone days, and the Red Skull's previous Cube-powered jump into Lukin's body left a trail ... Instead of an angel and a devil hovering over either shoulder, Lukin could have Captain America and the Red Skull.

But seriously, Marvel have hinted that in Fallen Son, Tony Stark would be choosing the new Cap. So the question we should be asking ourselves is, What Would Iron Man Do? Two options that I can see:

1) Pick someone unquestionably loyal to him, in which case James Rhodes gets the tip (Captain War Machine, anyone?).

2) Offer the role to a high profile anti-Reg holdout to get them on his side. Number one on that list is Luke Cage, but I don't see him (or any other member of the radicalized underground) letting himself be bribed like that.

Probably the best Tony will be able to manage is to bring one of the neutrals completely on board. The biggest group of neutrals is of course the X-men, and as an added bonus, having a mutant Cap would make a huge civil rights statement. Cyclops is well respected both within the mutant community and without, has recently lost his powers (but not his X-gene), and given his knack for spatial geometry, he could really sling that shield ...

... Cable, who carried Captain America's shield in the far future and on some level still regards it as "his" shield. Cable wouldn't particularly want to be Captain America (he seems to feel he's evolved beyond that role), but if Stark gave the shield to someone he considered unworthy, I could see him taking it away for safekeeping, maybe holding it in Providence until America repealed the SHRA. Kind of like the Marvel Civil War's Guernica ...
