Hi All

I do agree that there will eventually a replacement Captain America.
As for the Top Candidates:

1.The Punisher –
Although Frank has tremendous respect for Cap, I do not see him wearing the suit. I think maybe he will wear the mask around his arm to show mourning/carry on the memory, but not actually become the new Captain America. Frank knows that Steve hates his methods and will not disrespect a fellow fallen solider by taking up the suit and kill.
Although I some do see some confrontation between Frank and no.2. Although they most likely get along fine considering the are both soldiers and have similar methods/ethics. Can’t wait.

2.Bucky/Winter Solider –
I see him working along side Nick Fury and other supporting characters in tracking down Cap’s killers. He will still hold the title of Winter Solider (Maybe he would change it to Nomad- but that a whole different post altogether). He could possibly take Cap’s shield and use it as his own - I can not think of another person more deserving to take it up as his own. Plus I do not think that he would jump from still being so ashamed of himself to even talk to Steve to donning the Captain America costume.

3.Patriot – Has his own ID and is in his own group the Young Adventures (I take it he is the leader?). He probably will do something out of respect, but I do not see him becoming the next Cap. Also his age is a concern…

4.Josiah X – Sorry, never heard of him

5.Jack Flag – A possibility, as he could have been built up from being young, brash and cocky (Spider-man-like) to a worthy mature, levelheaded Cap replacement– but now that is gone, since he is too busy these days being crippled by Bullseye.

6.Free Spirit – I liked her, haven’t seen her since the ‘Out of Time’ storyarc. As good as she is, I do not think the world is ready for a female Captain America. Just an observation, I am not being sexist, so calm down everyone.

7.Battlestar – Like Patriot, Battlestar is too entrenched into his own ID. I cannot see him being anyone else. Although I would love to see a reunion between him and Walker…

8.The Falcon- Like Bucky, I see him working along side Nick Fury and other supporting characters in tracking down Cap’s killers. He could possibly take Cap’s shield and use it as his own. Also he would still carry on the ID Cap helped him create.

9.Iron Man – I do not at all see him actually wearing the costume. Although as a sign of respect he could paint his amour red, white and blue for awhile. I also see him playing a hand in picking the replacement and recreating a new shield like he did back in the day…

10.Hawkeye – I see him as a possibility. Considering his long history with Steve and he also been dead (that might hit home with Steve dying…) he could take up the role. His personality is a little bit more upbeat the Rogers, so think the equivalent of Nightwing as Batman.

11.USAgent – In my opinion: save the best for last! For those who read my other posts, I have been hoping Walker gets a second go. He has history with Rogers, He has history with Stark (See no.9) and he already knows what the pressure of being Captain America is. Since his first run he has improve significantly and you just know after he hears of what happened with Steve, he would jump at the opportunity to have another chance at taking up the mantle. Also he fits the description of a more hard-edged modern Captain America.
Could I finally get my ‘John Walker replacement Cap Part II’? The Omega Flight mini could go on while ‘Fallen Son’ which will buy time for Walker to finish the Omega Flight Story-arc then he comes back to the States to publicly take up the Mantle of Captain America.

Only time will tell ….

Thank for reading!

I think that Walker is the most likely candidate. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's who Stark picks. That brings back fond memories to one of my favorite CAP issues (CAP #350) when Cap once again takes the shield and uniform back. If not for John Walker, Cap might have taken a face full of red dust.
