Actually according the legend; Atlas was "tricked" back into accepting it via Hercules he was just going to leave the job to once he tricked him into it.

> > according to the legends of Atlas, he is the one who holds the heavens and all the stars therein on his shoulders. Hercules briefly held all of that and gave him a break, but Hercules couldn't hold it for long because the burden was too great and the stars and heavens were shaking too much and Atlas re-shouldered the burden accordingly, so as not to anger Zeus.
>
> Is that an especific version of the current mytho? The ones i have read majorily agree upon Atlas wanting to leave Hercules to shoulder the burden himself, and get a pass on the punishment set by Zeus.
>
> While i think its cleary implied that Atlas, the Titan is greater in strenght than Heracles, the fact he wanted to leave him doing the bussiness, leaves as well the impression that Heracles was capable of doing it, more than for a mere moments.
>
> Im saying this, while reminding myself that this is Kirby`s Atlas, not supossed to be the mythical Titan. Unless after the original one shot, someone retconned him to be *it*.

He should use his other powers, fly around, do everything else BUT stand there and take it on the chin. Sheesh. When is DC gonna start writing Superman like he's capable of fighting. Superspeed blitzing, flying around, using his head for thinking purposes instead of as a punching bag. He keeps this up and he DESERVES to lose.

> Western comiccs never put the emphasis in versability the same way the Eastern manga did. To expect Superman to fight in a way that doesnt belong to our comic culture, all of a sudden, is wishfull thinking.
