What's wrong with using his spider sense? That's probably his biggest power. It's like saying Daken had no chance if he hadn't used his claws or pheremones. The fact is that the pheremones were really affecting him and he still won when he turned it up a notch.

At the time of the fight, Skaar was thought to be a Hulk-level character. If Wolverine admits to having trouble cutting Hulk with adamantium, the idea of using bone claws to cut class 80+ characters doesn't sit will with me. It's like when bone claw Wolvie gutted Lobo. If his bones were really that tough than the adamantium wouldn't be much of an upgrade. Remember how much tougher Logan was in the movie after the adamantium? I think that's how it works.
