I never said it wasn't close or competitive, that would be obviously untrue. The two had a titanic fight but it was shown in the story that Supes had that little extra to finish the fight.

Then consider that both companies' editorial agreed the outcomes. There's NO WAY DC would accept their main icon going down to Thor. Although roughly analogous in the context of their respective universes Supes is of MUCH greater value to DC than Thor is to Marvel. That's not over-analysis, it's just the way it is.

You see, I don't entirely disagree with this either. For whatever reasons, all parties agreed to the result and it was portrayed in the story. That is the simplest fact that one has to draw from that story as it pertains to battleboard discussions. In a fair fight where the stakes were highest - Superman won. The over analysis comes from taking quotes from the story dialogue to somehow invalidate or cast doubt on the result of the fight.

Yes, but the first point doesn't preclude the other, it supports it. So if you accept that it was really, REALLY close, because Superman "could not lose to Thor* (in the REAL world) it's pretty obvious that in a purely fantasy setting without this overriding caveat, Thor would have won. Irrespective, I think Buseik would have still depicted Supes winning given his comments and track record writing Thor, but most objective professional opinions would not.
