...Shang Chi's father raising him to be an instrument of his evil machinations, is as important to Shang Chi's origin as that radioactive spider is to Spider Man's origin.

The father is going to have to be a factor in this movie. Whether or not he will be named Fu Manchu remains to be seen.

Wouldn't it make the character too close to Luke Skywalker ?

Anyway, Ghost was the daughter of Elihas Starr (Egghead) in the MCU (contrary to the comics). So, it would be very easy to follow the same logic for Shang-Chi's father.

Zheng Zu can appear in the movie without any obvious link to Fu Manchu.
(... just like Dracula appeared in Blade Trinity without being called Dracula. 'Dracula' is in the public domain but David Goyer didn't want Bram Stoker's character to overshadow the other characters.)

Even if they don't want to use Zheng Zu, they could use the "Ten Rings Leader", Plan Chu, Master Khan, Aloysius Thorndrake or the Black Lama.

In fact, they could very easily combine the 6 characters into one, just like they said that Ego the Living Planet was some kind of Celestial. Fu Manchu is an archetype, after all.

Since Zheng Zu currently wears a mask in comics, it could be anyone behind the mask ... and Shang-Chi could be his adoptive son in the MCU.

Actually, it would be very simple to make a 'Shang-Chi versus the Ten Rings' movie since it is unlikely that there will be an Iron Man 4 movie.
