Previous Post

Instead of continuing to point out what is wrong with Mighty Thor, I've spent some time trying to find something - anything - good. I might have succeeded. Here is Volstaag on Galactus:

"That thing is the plague of worlds, little friend of Jesus. A kind of parasite that feeds on planets. Unstoppable, unknowable. Insatiable.... Maybe once he was like a man, but now.. now he... it.. is more a force of nature than anything. A God of oblivion."

This is a great (albeit one-sided) description of Galactus, and an excellent palliative to the erroneous anthropomorphic assumptions and interpretations of Galactus' actions.

I hope this description is sent to every future writer of the character. "Unknowable, unstoppable, insatiable...a force of nature...."

Of course, a coherent narrative demands that character description be in concord with character action. Otherwise you end up looking like an amateur who makes things up as you go along. Let's see next issue.

Another great post haze

It is an good description of Galactus, but I take issue with the name Jesus being used in comics. Jesus is very real where as galactus, thor odin etc are made up characters. I know marvel use a lot of characters from various mythologies around the world, but delving into religions that are practised today is slippery ground because they will end up offending somebody

Would marvel dare say that galactus is a little friend of allah or buddah?? I doubt it. Are marvel testing the waters before they start writting Jesus as a some kind of cosmic comic entity.

It just concerns me along with the lack of moral taste that have been evident in marvel comics during the last few years.
