Surprised nobody has talked about this one yet. The story is about how the Ultimates have been summoned by Galactus to assist in saving the universe and freeing Eternity.
One part of the story involves Blue Marvel, Spectrum, American Chavez, Black Panther and Captain Marvel seeing it snow in space. Turns out this is a "ghost" of the Shaper of Worlds. They battle this ghost and Blue Marvel is eventually able to capture it with help from Spectrum. SoW tells the story about remaking a universe with Surfer helping and others. But is also talking about some big bads coming that are on a distant shore.
The team realizes this is a message and one not for them. It was sent to Taa II for Galactus.
Meanwhile, Galactus, with his new herald, are on trial. Order and Chaos have summoned the Living Tribunal to punish Galactus for changing and messing up the cosmic balance. They want him to go back to being the devourer or to be destroyed and replaced.
There are some interesting comments here, the LT says Galactus is Galan merged with Infinity. Thought that was a bit odd. Anyway, the LT finds that the cosmic hierarchy is in flux and that nothing mentioned by the abstracts are relevant. He says cosmics will rise and fall and the new order will be established.
Order and Chaos apparently kill the LT and Galactus is standing there. A rematch in the next issue apparently.
Loads of heavy weight cosmic stuff going on here.
I don't know where you read that it was stated that Galactus was a merger between Galan and Infinity.
The Living Tribunal states that Galactus was once Galan AND the Sentience of the sixth universe. Which I thought showed a far above average understanding of Galactus' origin. Galactus isn't simply Galan empowered, but a product of the union between Galan and the sentience of the previous (now 6th) universe. Galan is only one half of Galactus, I was impressed with the writer's continuity accuracy (and comprehension) here.
