I don't know where you read that it was stated that Galactus was a merger between Galan and Infinity.

The Living Tribunal states that Galactus was once Galan AND the Sentience of the sixth universe. Which I thought showed a far above average understanding of Galactus' origin. Galactus isn't simply Galan empowered, but a product of the union between Galan and the sentience of the previous (now 6th) universe. Galan is only one half of Galactus, I was impressed with the writer's continuity accuracy (and comprehension) here.

You are correct. When Galactus's origin is recounted in Fantastic Four #262 it states that Galactus does have the sentience of his universe. I don't believe this detail was in his origin in Thor #169.

Why don't we got to Supervillain Origins Galactus? It covered this in detail. As the universe talked to Galactus in that one. I think it calls itself Eternity or some such there. The stuff after that is just in line with that origin. As the origin in Thor is very different and involves a much smaller body than a universe or abstract entity.

Be it Eternity or Infinity hardly matters much. It just has to be a sentience.

    So I'm assuming:

    Quote:
In Multiverse-7 (the multiverse that everything Marvel was in pre-Secret Wars) every timeline had some sort of Galactus that was a byproduct of a survivor from the big crunch of universes in Multiverse-6. And that from Multiverse-2 and onward there was always a survivor from a previous universe. I guess Secret Wars threw out the rulebook and everyone from 616 Marvel more or less survived. But the Elders of the Universe were using that modality of surviving the big crunch in a bid to become the next Galactuses (Galacti?) in Englehart's Silver Surfer run back in the 80's.
