First off, I enjoyed it. Starlin's moved away from the direction of the last few outings. This seemed to have a deeper plot and it was nice to see different faces.

Anyway, Thanos refers to Mentor's death at the hands of Ultron. I'm disappointed this didn't have the old school editor's footnote, or maybe it didn't happen yet? Someone suggested it happened during Infinity Conquest. If so is it still canon and can someone point out the book? Thanks.

I thought Thanos killed Mentor at the end of issue 2 in the recent series?

I only buy trades/OGNs these days - which series is that RM?

But honestly...I don't consider Starlin's recent Thanos stuff as canon. In interviews he implies that he doesn't consider the Thanos other writers use in their stories as the real Thanos. So ipso facto I don't think anything Thanos related that Starlin has written in the past few years is canon for the rest of Marvel unless it's referenced in another non-Starlin written book.

There does seem to be a mutually agreed tolerance between Marvel and Starlin. I thought he's given a nod to the status quo with the inclusion of Hyperion in the Avengers Ranks (Infinity Finale) but at best token. And who can forget the retcon of Jurgen's Thanos with Mangog and Starlin's original planes with Rune.

And Mentor shouldn't be all that killable anyways. While I think Mentor's offspring are weaker than he is Mentor got the gift of the upgrade in earth born Eternals power before he left for Titan. Sui San's people being descended from Uranos's group didn't get the upgrade but Mentor should have control over his molecules like the earth Eternals.

Agreed - this is what intrigued me. Alars is a Prime Eternal so as you say nothing short of extreme disincorporation should have done it, something beyond Ultron I think.
