Personally, I wish more superhero movies would resist the temptation to cram as many villains in as possible. It dilutes the focus and you end up with monstrosities like Batman and Robin.

See, I hate generalities like this. Who says that has to be true? Take your average movie and look at how many characters and backstories you have to grab ahold of fairly quickly. Star Wars had at least 8 main characters. The first X-Men had six key X-Men and 4 Brotherhood members. The Departed had at least 6 main characters. We have no problem grasping those characters.

If you take a concept like the Flash, he doesn't have a lot of the ancillary support characters that are necessary to who he is (Alfred/Commissioner Gordon/Vicki Vale or Aunt May/Uncle Ben/Mj/JJJ). So why can't we do a movie that has as its main character the Flash (whichever version), maybe a love interest, and a few of the Rogues (Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Boomerang, Weather Wizard maybe) who team up against him? That's only six characters to manage, why would that be an issue for most folks?
